1. Introduction of Needle Flame Tester
ZY-2 Needle flame tester is fully met the requirements of IEC60695-11-5 and IEC60695-2-2 standard. The test machine specifies a needle-flame test to simulate the effect of a small flame which may result from fault conditions, in order to assess product and material’s ignition risk and fire retardance by a simulation technique the fire. It is used for electrotechnical equipment, its sub-assemblies and components and to solid electrical insulating materials or other combustible materials.
The Needle Flame Tester consists of a dia.0.9mm needle burner that tilts to 45 degree from the vertical and is fueled with butane or propane gas. The fire hazard of the specimen is assessed by measuring the burning duration of the specimen, and any ignition of the wrapping tissue and white pine board below the specimen.
The shell and important parts of the equipment are made of stainless steel, sculpt daintily, endure smoke corrupt, high automatism, high reliability of key parts of apparatus, numeric shows. Fixture could be adjusted. The test process is automatically controlled by the program, and the exhaust is exhausted independently.

3. Summary of the test method of Needle Flame Tester:
The test specimen is arranged in a vertical position over tissue paper. A propane gas flame is applied to the edge as well as to the flat surface. The burning time, flammability and severity (exposure time) are determined for this flame application. The test is usually performed on parts or selected areas of these parts.
4. Evaluation of test results
Unless otherwise prescribed in the revelant specification, the test specimen is considered to have satisfactorily withstood the needle-flame test if one of the following situations applies:
A) There is no flame and no glowing of the test specimen and no ignition of the specified layer or wrapping tissue.
B) Flames or glowing of the test specimen and the surrounding parts extinguish within 30s after the removal of the needle-flame, that is tb < 30s. Also, the surrounding parts have not burnt away completely and there has been no ignition of the specified layer or wrapping tissue.
